Wow, I wouldn't be able to use the NX client without this utility. You really should get them to make the client behave this way by default. The current behavior is just rediculous. It's like asking us vim guys to stop using the ESC key!

Hi, this is a great utility. One question was that I didn't understand how to implement the tip given by Gabrijel Gavranovic for full screen mode and would really like to use it. I am new to KDE, so words of one syllable would probably be good :-).
Also I tried to use the contact form on your website, but couldn't type anything in any of the boxes, I'm using Firefox 1.5.0.1, just wondered if you were aware of a problem.

To implement the KDE full screen topic add the alt and forward slash / combination as a shortcut for switching windows and you should be fine.
Contact form and Firefox: I have noticed some problems since I also use Firefox .. generally tabbing to the controls works (mouse click may not always work :-) I really dont know what the problem is as the code is very straight forward ..

Considering full-screen behaviour. If you have spare time it would be nice to implement sending correct keystrokes instead of ALT+/ (if possible). For me it is not possible to change the key shortcuts on the server.
Iam working on an improved version 2 and will have a version out soon :-)

I like to report some problem with my Hungaryan keyboard. This keyboard (and possibly other layouts also) has two different Alt buttons, the left is the normal and the right one is Alt-Gr. This Alt-Gr is used for entering symbols like ~^$<>&@{} etc. Nxutility however do some nasty things with Alt-Gr, when it is loaded, I can't reach these symbols, hiting Alt-Gr/key does nothing. Can this behavior fixed? As I know not only Hungaryan keyboard has Alt-Gr, but German also.

I do have some problems with the utility using full screen. I'm using WinXP and I'm having a norwegian keyboard layout. It seems as if the ALT-TAB is received as ALT+- and not as ALT+/. When I'm setting the keyboard shortcuts according to this using kcontrol, the list of current applications (KDE)is displayed as expected when pushing ALT-TAB. At the same time I'm changing back to WinXP. It seems as if the ALT-TAB is received correctly by KDE but not trapped by the utility.
Any suggesions?

Maybe I'm doing something wrong... I have downloaded your last beta2 binary now, but I still got the same problem: When the NX full screen window is open and I'm pushing ALT-TAB I can see the KDE application list opens and being traversed (as expected). At the same time the NX window is minimized and I'm back in WinXP. The NX icon is highlighted in the taskbar (NX is in other words still the curren active application, but minimized). I'm not able to change WinXP applications by using ALT-TAB before NX no longer is the active application. Any ideas?

Copy the nxutility.ini file to the same directory as nxutility.exe and in the ini file set Trace=1

Hi. I have the same experience as a previous anonymous poster: NXUtility works great - except in full screen mode.
I am using the latest beta on Win XP SP2 with NX client 2.0.0-98. I have set up Alt-/ in my KDE session as you recommend on your website, and Alt-/ works to switch screens, but alt-tab doesn't (in full screen mode). I attach nxutility.log below.
What does happen is that the screen changes back to my windows desktop so that no window is the Active Window. Then if I push Alt-tab again, it does nothing: it doesn't even pull up the standard windows Alt-tab switcher. However, if I then highlight a window to make it the Active Window, alt-tab works like it normally does in windows.

I debugged this earlier and could not find out .. the log clearly indicates that the full screen state is determined and that the corresponding key stroke is passed. If you are using english keyboard only, then you can try with version 1 of the NX utility and that works perfectly

I really like this utility. So much, in fact, that I have some feature requests. :-)
I use IntelliJ IDEA a lot via NX, and IntelliJ is very key-combination-happy. One key combo it uses a lot is Ctrl-Alt-M, which means "extract method". When I press these on my Windows box it minimizes the NX window and shows the desktop. Would there be a way of getting NX to send this combo along to the server instead, either as Ctrl-Alt-M or as some other combination?
Another request: one thing I miss when I use NX is the forward/back buttons on the side of my mouse. (The MS intellimouse explorer and some Logitech mice, among others, have these.) Would there be a way to have your utility get NX to transmit those too, either as mouse events or as keystrokes like Alt-left-arrow for back and Alt-right-arrow for forward?
Finally, any thoughts of making this open-source? I'd love to be able to add things myself. :-)

i also am using a norwegian keyboard and the alt+tab doesn't work in fullscreen mode. i put in an alternative keyboard shortcut in control center > regional & accessibility > keyboard shortcuts > walk through windows:
alt+shift+7 (to get alt+/)
but when i apply it and try it out i am sent back to windows xp, when i go back to nx client, if i was on a firefox page for example, then in the find box there is a repeating --------... and doesn't stop until i press escape. wierd. suggestions?
